A new addition to the European Tour schedule for 2017 will include six-hole matches and could potentially crown a champion with a closest-to-the-pin contest.
The circuit announced Wednesday the creation of the World Super 6 Perth, to be played Feb. 16-19 at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Australia. The event will be co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and will replace the Perth International on both schedules.
The unique format will begin rather conventionally, with a 36-hole stroke-play cut. From there, the remaining participants will compete in a third round of stroke play to determine the top 24 players who will advance to match play, with a playoff as needed to determine the final spots.
