There’s a notion out here that journalists are supposed to be objective, report what they see, not choose sides, and then sit back and live their private lives separately.
Good luck with that one. At the very least, if we didn’t all love golf and love to watch others play it well we’d have no chance to survive in a job that’s increasingly demanding. And of course we all like theatre, a good story, watching Jordan Spieth chase a Grand Slam, or hope at least that Tiger Woods makes a comeback. Most of all, we want something interesting to write about.
