Mid-am champion Harvey DQ'd for signing incorrect scorecard at U.S. Amateur

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – At the U.S. Amateur, Scott Harvey continued a “tradition” this week that hopefully will not continue a year from now when the event travels to Oakland Hills in Michigan.

That is, for the second consecutive year, the reigning U.S. Mid-Amateur champion signed an incorrect scorecard after the second round of stroke play at the U.S. Amateur. A year ago, it was Iowa’s Mike McCoy, whose disqualification cost him a playoff spot to get into match play; late Tuesday, it was Harvey, who signed for a 75 when he’d actually shot 6-over 76 on Olympia Fields’ more demanding North Course.
