NORTON, Mass. – It was a quintessential Phil Mickelson round – two birdies, two bogeys and an adventurous quadruple bogey-8 that added up to a 4-over 75 at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Mickelson’s round, his worst at TPC Boston since 2010, opened with a birdie at No. 3 and a bogey at No. 5 before things really got interesting at the par-4 sixth.
From 144 yards out, Mickelson’s approach shot landed in a hazard, and after a lengthy search he found his golf ball on the edge of a pond. After two failed attempts to hit the ball out of the marsh, Lefty took a drop and needed three more shots to finish off his quad.
