NAPA, Calif. – The week’s marquee group at the Safeway Open will not be as high profile as officials had originally hoped, but it will still pack a punch.
Phil Mickelson will highlight the field at the 2016-17 PGA Tour season lid-lifter when he tees off at 12:40 p.m. (PT) off the first tee alongside Bill Haas and last year’s winner Emiliano Grillo.
Mickelson has only played the event once in 2007 when it was held in Scottsdale, Ariz., but is fresh off the best Ryder Cup performance of his career two weeks ago.
