CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Phil Mickelson continued his love/hate relationship with Quail Hollow Club’s three-hole closing stretch on Friday.
One of the best rounds Mickelson has played in some time was in danger of unraveling on the par-4 18th hole, much like it did on Thursday when he closed with a double bogey-6.
But Lefty rallied with a 10-footer for par and a second-round 66.
“[No.] 18 is a wonderful golf hole. I just don’t like playing it. It doesn’t fit my eye,” said Mickelson, who is tied for fifth place at 7 under, three shots off the lead.
