Michelle Wie's new swing makes major debut at KPMG Women's PGA

RYE, N.Y. –– There’s a picture of a 15-year-old Michelle Wie striping a 5-iron on the last hole of what’s now the ANA Inspiration. It’s David Leadbetter’s favorite version of Wie’s swing.

The creative, powerful player is a tinkerer at heart. She’s constantly looking for something that feels good, even if it’s not something sustainable in the long run.

“You know that movie, “50 Shades of Grey,” Leadbetter said to Wie, “Yours is Fifty Swings of Michelle.”

The significant changes in Wie’s swing at this week’s KPMG Women’s PGA Championship are the direct result of bursitis in her left hip.
