Miceli: Plenty of shared blame in Mickelson ball fiasco

INCHEON, South Korea – It’s a new day, but the Phil Mickelson rules fiasco still has some legs and seems worth another look.

It’s clear that Mickelson has his facts wrong regarding the one-ball condition, even after learning of the penalty.

He stated in a TV interview on NBC/Golf Channel that he thought he could switch balls, similar to what some players do in the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship, where the one-ball condition is not in effect.

Then in a post-match press conference, Mickelson said, “We've never had a one-ball (condition) that I can think of in these events, or at least that I was aware of.
