Merritt cracks OWGR top 100; Fowler in top 5

For the first time since first appearing at No. 1,414 in August 2008, Troy Merritt has cracked the Official World Golf Ranking's top 100.

Thanks to his victory at the Quicken Loans National on Sunday, Merritt is now 99th in the world, up from 180th. The 29-year-old will play in the WGC-Bridgestone this week and in his first career major, the PGA Championship, next week.

One spot behind Merritt on the leaderboard, Rickie Fowler used his runner-up finish to vault to No. 5, tying his highest career ranking, which he ascended to and dropped from last month.
