McIlroy views Frys, rest of '15 as end of 'mini season'

NAPA, Calif. – The official PGA Tour schedule shows that this week’s Frys.com Open is the season opener.

Rory McIlroy’s personal schedule shows that this is the second half of a “mini season.”

“Coming back at the PGA for me,” he said, “was the start of a new season.”

McIlroy, who has three worldwide titles this year, missed the St. Andrews Open and a title defense at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational because of an ankle injury suffered while playing soccer with friends. Though he has finished inside the top 30 in all four of his starts since the injury, he hasn’t been in contention for a title.
