CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It only added to Rory McIlroy’s legacy that the Wells Fargo Championship – which he won on Sunday by seven strokes – was the third of five consecutive events for the Northern Irishman.
McIlroy won the first start of his marathon run, the WGC-Cadillac Match Play, finished eighth at The Players and added his 11th PGA Tour title on Sunday at Quail Hollow Club.
The world No. 1 was scheduled to fly from Charlotte at 8 p.m. (ET) to England on Sunday for this week’s BMW PGA Championship and is hosting the Irish Open the next week.
