McIlroy hopes to see putting improve after eye surgery

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – For a guy who spent more time in the doctor’s office than he would have liked in 2015, it was interesting that Rory McIlroy added to his medical file with an eye surgery early last month.

McIlroy, who was sidelined for much of last summer with an ankle injury, underwent laser eye surgery on Dec. 10 in an attempt to lose the contact lenses he’s been wearing since he was 10.

“I was wearing my contact lenses for so long during the day that I was actually doing the surface of my eye damage by wearing them so much,” said McIlroy on Wednesday at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship where he will be making his 2016 debut this week.
