DORAL, Fla. — Slightly windier conditions from a different direction made scoring challenging in the third round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy taking control after a 4-under 68 at Trump National Doral on Saturday.
Moving day became more of a war of attrition for the 65-man field as only four players on an expanded leaderboard of 20 recorded rounds in the 60s with the scoring average ballooning to 73.179 and the leaders struggled to maintain their positions.
McIlroy, 26, seemed not to mind the altered conditions, even when he missed a fairway or green.
