According to Paul McGinley, a new European Ryder Cup captain will be named by Christmas.
Thomas Bjorn and Padraig Harrington – both assistants to Darren Clarke at Hazeltine – are rumored to be the front-runners for the job in 2018 in Paris.
"We'll be appointing a new skipper probably this side of Christmas," McGinley told Reuters at the British Masters on Sunday. "We are very disappointed to have lost the Ryder Cup. It hurts to lose ... the event goes from strength to strength, this time it didn't go our way but we'll re-galvanize and come at the Americans again.
