WINDERMERE, Fla. – It was a question that started to linger as the fall season took off: What happened to Max Rottluff?
The Arizona State senior rocketed to the forefront in college golf last season with two wins and nine top-10s, nearly matching superstar teammate Jon Rahm's exploits as the duo became the most intimidating 1-2 punch in the country.
Then the summer hit, and Rottluff's game sunk. The German failed to make the stroke play cut at the Western Amateur, followed up by missing match play at the U.S. Amateur and opened his final fall as a Sun Devil with a T-50 at Olympia Fields.
