Marco Simone G&CC in Rome to host 2022 Ryder Cup

The 2022 Ryder Cup is headed to Italy for the first time.

Ryder Cup Europe announced Monday that the biennial matches will be held at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, which beat out Austria, Germany and Spain in the bidding process.

The 2018 matches will be held at Le Golf National in Paris, followed by Whistling Straits in Wisconsin in 2020.

In order to secure the bid, Italy promised a “complete reconstruction” of the course and, beginning in 2017, guaranteed a €7 million purse for the European Tour’s Italian Open – a €5.
