Major-less McIlroy looks at 2015 as 'a lost year'

ATLANTA – Many players see the Tour Championship as one final chance to leave their mark on the season. Not Rory McIlroy.

Although McIlroy lost ground on Day 2 at East Lake, carding a 1-over 71 that included a bogey at the last, he made it clear he wasn’t looking at the finale as a chance to salvage what has been a difficult season.

“I think it’s a lost year already, just because I didn’t win a major,” said McIlroy, who was tied for fifth, six shots off the lead. “I judge myself on the biggest tournaments and the biggest tournaments we have are the four majors, and I played OK in them but I didn’t win.
