Mahan seeks to extend playoff streak and maybe even win it all, finally

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – In each of the past eight years of the PGA Tour’s season-ending Fed ExCup playoffs, the last man standing has earned a cool $10 million bonus.

That's the power of winning the Tour’s season title.

The playoffs, which began in 2007 and have been modified over the years, rate among most players as an unqualified success. You’ll certainly get no complaints from past champions Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Bill Haas, Brandt Snedeker, Henrik Stenson and Billy Horschel.

Hunter Mahan, who has qualified for all 34 playoff events in nine years, never has won the top prize.
