NORTON, Mass. – Hunter Mahan hit the accelerator in his bid to keep his perfect FedEx Cup Playoffs record going.
With a 7-under-par 64 Sunday at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Mahan rocketed up the leaderboard. He was inside the top 10 when he signed his scorecard.
Mahan has qualified for and played in all 34 FedEx Cup playoff events since the PGA Tour went to the postseason series nine years ago. He had some work to do this week to keep his streak going. He started this week 91st in the FedEx Cup Playoffs standings knowing he had to move into the top 70 to advance to the BMW Championship and then up to the top 30 to make it to the playoff finale, the Tour Championship.
