There’ll be a fresh twist to next week’s Golf Channel coverage of the RSM Classic at the Sea Island Resort — veteran caddies Jim “Bones” Mackay and John Wood offering insight for viewers as part of the TV team.
But when an unforeseen set of circumstances cropped up, Wood offered credit to Matt Kuchar and agent Mark Steinberg for stepping in so that plans that were a year in the making weren’t sidetracked.
Having been in discussion with NBC producer Tommy Roy for months, Mackay and Wood were able to accept the offer because their players, Phil Mickelson and Hunter Mahan, respectively, weren’t going to play the RSM — previously known as the McGladrey Classic.
