EVIAN-LES-BAINS, France – The signs were everywhere this week. Lydia Ko’s face was plastered on so many championship signs, from bus stops to airport billboards (even in London) that it looked like she’d already won The Evian Championship. Ko, being ever-so humble, thought she’d been chosen because her shirt matched Evian’s pink logo.
Now that she’s done it, becoming the youngest player to win a major since Young Tom Morris in 1868, Evian organizers can simply leave up the signs for another year.
At 18 years, four months and 20 days, Ko became the LPGA’s youngest major winner, overtaking Morgan Pressel’s record of 18 years, 10 months and nine days.
