PALM CITY, Fla. –– When Zach Wright first arrived at LSU in the fall of 2012, he thought he knew everything about golf. He thought he didn’t need to practice hard. He thought talent alone was good enough to make him successful.
“I didn’t give it my all, basically, my freshman and sophomore years,” Wright said. “Looking back on it now, I just wasn’t mature enough.”
The lack of work ethic caused Wright to struggle. Although he did win the Louisiana Classic as a freshman, he also finished outside the top 30 in 12 of his first 19 starts as a collegian.
