LPGA takes its place in Turnberry history with Ricoh Women's British Open

TURNBERRY, Scotland – Four men’s British Opens have been contested at Trump Turnberry. Tom Watson nicked Jack Nicklaus by one in the famous “Duel in the Sun” here in 1977, and then left golf fans heartbroken after a playoff loss to Stewart Cink in ’09.

When Karrie Webb came to Scotland for the first time to compete in the 2002 Women’s British Open at Turnberry, she recalled compatriot Greg Norman’s victory here in 1986, as well as Nick Price’s 1994 triumph.

It seems only fitting that the one time the women have competed here for a British Open title, a World Golf Hall of Famer put her name on the trophy.
