For the better part of a decade, Mike Nichols has endeavored to return the LPGA product to the Atlanta area. The Symetra Tour’s chief business officer has succeeded with the addition of the Gosling’s Dark ’n Stormy Classic to Symetra’s 2016 schedule, the developmental tour announced March 10. The 54-hole event will be held May 19-21 at Atlanta National Golf Club, co-host of the 2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur, in Milton, northeast of Atlanta.
Nichols hopes the presence of the developmental tour will lead to the eventual return of the LPGA to metropolitan Atlanta for the first time since the 2006 Florida’s Natural Charity Championship hosted by Nancy Lopez at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge.
