LPGA purses rise to $63 million for 33 events in 2016 (The Associated Press)

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) -- Purses on the LPGA Tour will rise by $4 million in 2016, with the season starting in the Bahamas in January and ending again in Florida.

The tour released next year's schedule on Friday. Official purse money is going up from $59.1 million this year to $63.1 million next season, and the tour will take three weeks off to accommodate the return of golf to the Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in August.

For the third straight year, the schedule starts with five tournaments in five different countries. The first event in the U.
