Lowry putts with wedge, shoots 74 at Irish Open

As if the degree of difficulty wasn't already high enough at Royal County Down, Shane Lowry played most of the second round at the Irish Open without the use of his putter.

Lowry began on No. 10 and reportedly bent his putter slightly on the 12th hole. Because the bend was not created during the normal course of play, he had to take the club out of his bag and spent the rest of his round putting with a wedge.

On a course where high scores abound, that would seem to be a dire scenario but Lowry showed some creativity on the greens - after all, he did win this event as an amateur in 2009 at County Louth.
