PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – All things considered, it hasn't been a bad week for a guy who figured before play began at TPC Sawgrass that he’d be on a plane home Friday evening.
Instead, Shane Lowry is alone in second place, three strokes behind leader Jason Day after a second-round 68 at The Players.
“Golf is a funny game sometimes,” Lowry said. “Sometimes low expectations bring good results and high expectations bring no results.
Lowry, who overcame a pair of early bogeys with a hole-out for eagle at the par-4 18th hole, returned after a two-hour weather delay and rolled in a 13 footer for birdie at the par-3 third hole.
