Love thought Woods missing Masters was April Fools' joke

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Call it a gut feeling, call it an educated guess, either way Davis Love III was sure Tiger Woods would play last week’s Masters.

“I was hoping he was going to play the Masters,” Love said on Wednesday at the RBC Heritage. “I was wrong in my prediction. He and Freddie [Couples] both not being there felt really weird.”

Love said he sent Woods a text message last month to congratulate him following news that his foundation would host the Los Angeles-area tournament beginning next year, but that the two didn’t talk about Tiger’s recovery from multiple back procedures late last year.
