ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The stars of the RSM Classic’s reality Father & Son Show – Davis Love III and Davis Love IV – finished the first round of the tournament at Sea Island Resort just as they had begun it on Thursday – dead even, both finishing the round at level par, shooting 70s.
For all the light-hearted talk about son wanting to finish ahead of father, and father grinding to edge his only son, there was no debating who was more nervous to start the round on the first tee at the Seaside Course.
“He was,” said amateur Davis “Dru” Love IV, pointing to his dad, he of the 21 career PGA Tour victories and $44 million in career on-course earnings.
