DUBLIN, Ohio – David Lingmerth has been plagued by slow starts this season, and after the first few holes of the Memorial it appeared this week would be no different.
Lingmerth was 2 over after six holes, seemingly headed for what would be his fifth missed cut in the last six starts. Instead, the diminutive Swede turned things around in a big way.
Lingmerth rallied to shoot an opening 67, then built upon that momentum with a 7-under 65 in the second round to take the tournament lead. He has not dropped a shot since his rocky start, playing the last 30 holes in 14 under.
