LANCASTER, Pa. – For Stacy Lewis, Day 1 of the U.S. Women’s Open hinged on an 8-foot par putt on the 11th hole.
“If I miss that putt on 11,” she said, “it’s a totally different story now.”
By now you’ve guessed that the putt dropped, and Lewis, riding a new wave of confidence, proceeded to turn a disappointing round into a crowd-pleasing 1-under 69.
“To get it back under par is really pretty amazing,” she said. “I did a lot of great stuff those last eight holes.”
Where Lewis is now with her swing compared to a month ago is night and day.
