PHOENIX – Former world No. 1 Stacy Lewis was hoping to make her return to competition at the Founders Cup this week, but her strained oblique muscle isn’t healed enough yet.
Lewis will sit out this week and will also take off the Kia Classic next week, with her goal to return for the ANA Inspiration in two weeks, according to her agent, Jeff Chilcoat. Lewis won the Founders Cup in 2013.
Lewis was at the HSBC Women’s World Championship two weeks ago when she was hurt hitting balls in preparation for her start there. She flew back home to Houston, where she was diagnosed with the oblique strain.
