SAN DIEGO – Phil Mickelson warned observers Thursday that Torrey Pines’ North Course wasn’t the pushover that it has been in the past.
Never has it proved to be this difficult, however.
Playing his last six holes in 4 over, Mickelson shot a second-round 76 Friday to miss the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. It was his worst-ever score on the North side, traditionally the more gettable of the two courses used during the tournament.
The North Course (70.963) played 2.557 shots easier than the South, which will be used for the weekend rounds.
