Leader Streb takes unusual drop at Quail Hollow

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – First-round leader Robert Streb opened his day at the Wells Fargo Championship with a front-nine 33, added a fourth birdie at the 13th hole, and appeared poised to distance himself from the field.

That all changed with one swing.

Streb, who despite his position atop the leaderboard has struggled with the driver (he’s 125th in fairways hit this week), pulled his tee shot into the water hazard left of the 16th hole.

Instead of taking a drop into an awkward lie, Streb chose to drop across the lake, adjacent the 15th fairway.
