Langasque learns from France’s best in preparing for British Open debut

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Romain Langasque doesn’t need too much guidance around the Old Course as he prepares to play in his first major championship, but then the reigning British Amateur champion isn’t short of confidence.

Call it the Dubuisson effect.

Victor Dubuisson mentors his French countryman Langasque. Dubuisson, 25, a Ryder Cup player, sent texts to his 20-year-old friend during last month’s British Amateur at Carnoustie. Langasque defeated Scotland’s Grant Forrest, 4 and 2, to book his spot into the British Open at St. Andrews.

Langasque is one of nine amateurs in this week’s field.
