Add Kristoffer Broberg’s name to the list of possible future European Tour greats.
Broberg defeated Patrick Reed on the first playoff hole to win the BMW Masters Sunday in Shanghai for his first European Tour win.
It’s probably the first of many.
Broberg won in style. He birdied the 73rd hole, the 18th at Lake Malaren Golf Club, when the pair returned there after matching 17-under 271 totals.
Not many would have picked Broberg to take down Ryder Cup star Reed in the playoff. However, the Swede displayed no nerves as he ripped his tee shot down the middle of the 18th fairway, while Reed’s drive found the rough.
