Krank Golf drivers not just for long-drive competitors

Mr. October once hit a 526-yard tee shot during a long-drive competition on rock-hard fairways, but now, at 52, he is known mostly as the founder and owner of Krank Golf in Tempe, Ariz.

Mr. October is Lance Reader, who designs and manufactures drivers under the long-distance name Krank. Because the World Long Drive Championship is held each year in October, this is clearly the most important month for Reader.

Krank drivers have won 16 world championships, including four Open Division titles in succession: Joe Miller in 2010, Carl Wolter in 2011, Ryan Winther in 2012 and Tim Burke in 2013.
