Brooks Koepka didn't let the latest Nike equipment news affect his play at the Travelers Championship.
Koepka was one of the company's most high-profile signings to begin the year, and he entered the week ranked No. 17 in the world. Hours after Nike decided to transition out of the golf equipment space, Koepka used his Nike equipment to shoot a 3-under 67 in the opening round at TPC River Highlands.
The score left him three shots off the early pace set by Vaughn Taylor and Andrew Loupe.
Koepka told reporters that he didn't learn of the Nike news until Wednesday, and his first thoughts went to the men and women whose lives will be most directly affected by the transition.
