Russell Knox withdrew from the Travelers Championship after a first-round 3-over 73 on Thursday at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., citing an undisclosed illness, according to the PGA Tour.
Knox, 30, of Scotland, had made 16 cuts in 20 starts this season, including third-place showings at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and The Honda Classic. In his most recent start, he tied for eighth at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, Tenn. He is No. 75 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Scott Langley and Chris Stroud shared the early lead at 5-under 65.
