GRANITEVILLE, S.C. — Living in Sweden, Marcus Kinhult is used to poor weather.
So when the 18-year-old stepped on the first tee as rain was falling heavily on Sage Valley Golf Club early Saturday morning, he felt a little at home.
“We get to play in a lot of rain,” Kinhult said. “I’m used to tough conditions, which is why I was pushing for it to keep raining.”
Said his local caddie, Darrell Schultz: “He told me that Americans aren’t used to rain and he’s like, ‘I want it to rain a little harder.’ ”
The rain only lasted for about five holes during Kinhult’s round, but it didn’t matter.
