LANCASTER, Pa. – Megan Khang saw her name atop the leaderboard at the U.S. Women’s Open and reminded herself to breathe. The 17-year-old amateur birdied four holes from Nos. 3-7, including a chip in, and held the lead at 4 under late Thursday morning.
“It got my heart racing,” she said.
On the 18th, Khang missed a 2-foot par putt to drop to 1-over 71. It was a disappointing way to end the day, but the teen still walked off feeling good.
Khang, playing in her third U.S. Women’s Open, became the youngest player to qualify for the U.
