The European Tour has hired a Canadian as its new chief executive. Keith Pelley has been appointed to replace George O’Grady, who retires this summer.
Pelley is currently the president of Canada’s Rogers Media, and is responsible for the company’s 51 radio stations, 56 publications, 12 national TV stations and 42 local stations, 300 digital properties and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Pelley helped Rogers achieve the largest sports rights deal in Canadian history: the acquisition of a $5.2 billion National Hockey League 12-year rights agreement.
The 51-year-old was previously president of Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium.
