Keegan Bradley incurs two-shot penalty for extra club in opening 68

Keegan Bradley's opening round at the Waste Management Phoenix Open got off to an inauspicious start – Ian Woosnam-style – on Thursday, but he came back to post a fine first-day score.

Trouble brewed on the very first hole at TPC Scottsdale, as Bradley was hit with a two-shot penalty on the opening par 4. The 29-year-old had played No. 1 with 15 clubs in his bag, above the maximum of 14. By rule, players incur a two-shot penalty for every hole they play with more than the maximum number of clubs. (This famously happened to Woosnam on the opening hole of the final round of the 2001 British Open.
