Defending U.S. Open champion Martin Kaymer would like to see Europe’s flagship event pushed back on the calendar.
The BMW Championship is the biggest non-major of the season on the European Tour. It is being contested this week at Wentworth Golf Club in Virginia Water, England.
Kaymer’s reasoning is twofold: the event’s relationship to the Open majors and course conditions.
"It's going to be difficult to plan around the U.S. Open (in June) and the British Open (in July),” Kaymer said Tuesday during a news conference. “But for such a big event you should get the best date.
