Martin Kaymer surged into a share of the lead Saturday at the European Tour's Italian Open with a 7-under 65, taking a spot atop the leaderboard alongside Jens Fahrbring and Romain Wattel heading into the final round.
Kaymer, the 30-year-old two-time major winner, started his day with four birdies and hit every green in regulation during his round en route to the 65 at Golf Club Milano in Parco Reale di Monza, Italy. Kaymer seeks his first European Tour title since January 2011 – he also won the co-sanctioned U.S. Open in 2014 and WGC-HSBC Champions in 2011.
