Since his blowout victory at the 2014 U.S. Open, Martin Kaymer has posted only seven top-10s worldwide and watched as his world ranking tumbled out of the top 20.
The reason?
“I practiced less,” he told reporters with a laugh Wednesday at the European Tour's BMW Masters. “It’s pretty simple.”
It’s a refreshingly honest answer from Kaymer, the two-major winner who, at 30, said it’s important to savor the big wins whenever they come.
Besides, it’s not like the German completely abandoned his game – he simply devoted more time to the gym than the range.
