Juli Inkster seeks close-up of U.S. Solheim Cup candidates

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Juli Inkster set up a nine-hole practice round on Tuesday at the Meijer LPGA Classic with rookie Alison Lee and Gerina Piller. Inkster, a World Golf Hall of Fame member, birdied the last hole to break even, telling her young opponents, “If you guys can’t beat a 55-year-old, you need to go practice.”

Though Inkster is familiar with Piller, she wanted to get to know the personality of Lee, a 19-year-old with an outside chance of making this year’s Solheim Cup team.

“I think it’s my job to get to know everyone’s personality and how well they’ll fit into the team,” said Inkster, the winningest U.
