TURNBERRY, Scotland – In the end, Jin-Young Ko couldn’t hold off her idol.
Three shots ahead of Inbee Park at Sunday’s start, Ko had no answer for Park’s bold charge at the Ricoh Women’s British Open.
Playing the final five holes in 3 over, Ko finished second, three shots behind Park.
Ko, who says she idolizes Park, bogeyed the 13th, dropping into a tie for the lead with Park, and then watched her hopes disappear at the 16th, where she hit a 5-iron heavy into the burn fronting the green.
