Jim Furyk withdraws from BMW Championship with wrist injury

Jim Furyk won't be making it to the second round of the BMW Championship, as the 45-year-old withdrew after six holes of the tournament on Thursday.

Furyk, No. 9 in the FedEx Cup standings, cited an injured left wrist in exiting the BMW Championship early Thursday afternoon.

Apparently, the American had appeared unsettled at the beginning of the day at Conway Farms. The ailing wrist that caused his withdrawal was taped throughout the round.

Furyk's Thursday disappearance is not the first time he's had trouble with a FedEx Cup playoff event. In 2010, Furyk was late for his pro-am tee time at the Barclays and was disqualified for the infraction.
