Jhonattan Vegas stays red-hot at steamy Baltusrol, fires opening 68 at PGA

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – The hottest golfer in the world right now? Well, one would have to consider Jhonattan Vegas a strong candidate.

While much of this week’s PGA Championship field was across the pond two weeks ago braving the chilly, blustery conditions at Royal Troon, Vegas was in the Deep South, in Opelika, Ala., for the Barbasol Championship. He finished T-4 there, and then followed that up with a victory at the RBC Canadian Open, his first Tour win since the 2011 Bob Hope Classic.

The win earned him the final spot in the field this week at Baltusrol Golf Club.
